What DIRE is

HAKA’s Disaster Intake for Response and Evacuation Registry (DIRE) is a confidential sign-up that tells our Phone Call Team and field responders who to check on first when disaster strikes: serving the whole ʻohana, including kūpuna, keiki, people with disabilities, medically fragile individuals, pets, service animals, and livestock.

The DIRE Registry connects HAKA’s response teams with the households, kūpuna, keiki, medically fragile individuals, and animals who need help most in a disaster.

Who should register

  • Kūpuna living alone or with limited mobility
  • Families with keiki or medically fragile members
  • People with disabilities who need evacuation assistance
  • Households with pets, service animals, or livestock

Why it matters

Emergency responders often don’t know who needs help until it’s too late. Signing up for the DIRE registry closes that gap ahead of time.

How it works

  1. Complete the confidential DIRE registry form with household needs, animals, mobility, and medical equipment.
  2. Your information is securely logged in HAKA’s DIRE registry.
  3. During an emergency, HAKA’s DIRE Registry Communications Team contacts registered households directly when trained volunteers and resources are available.
